How to grow a potted coffee tree and what should you pay attention to

As a new type of planting method, potted cultivation has been well promoted, and many enthusiasts can grow their favorite trees in pots. So how do you grow a potted coffee tree, and what should you pay attention to? Let me introduce it to you below.

When people enjoy the rich aroma of coffee, few probably know that the coffee tree is also an excellent shade-tolerant indoor plant. It belongs to the Rubiaceae family as an evergreen small tree. The compact-growing Coffea arabica, suitable for potted ornamental use, has large, beautiful, glossy leaves that are oval with wavy margins, 13-15 cm long and 5-8 cm wide, making it quite ornamental. The flowers are white, star-shaped, and fragrant. After flowering, it produces green fruit that turns bright red when ripe, extremely beautiful. The seeds inside the fruit are the raw material for coffee drinks.

Today coffee drinks have become popular worldwide, but growing coffee trees as potted ornamentals has only just begun. The cultivated variety is also Coffea arabica, selected from many varieties as suitable for potted ornamental use. For propagation, seeds are sown in loose humus soil, with soil temperature kept at 25°C-35°C during the day and 15°C-20°C at night, and seedlings emerge in 20-30 days. When the seedling is 20 cm tall, it has ornamental value once potted. After that, repot every year, apply a diluted liquid of decomposed farmyard manure once every 15 days, and it will bloom and bear fruit in 2-3 years. In 4-6 years the plant height reaches more than 1.6 m, with beautiful leaves and fruit, reaching the best ornamental period. It dislikes exposure to scorching sun and grows best in semi-shade with diffused light.

Coffee fruit seeds that have not been dried and roasted are toxic and must undergo professional drying, grinding, roasting and other processing before they can be used to make a beverage.

The above is what I have introduced to you, and I hope it can serve as a reference. I remind everyone that as long as you are patient and careful, a potted coffee tree will eventually grow.
