How to Grow a Pomelo Bonsai and What to Watch Out For
As a decorative feature on an office desk or a home balcony, potted plants have become very popular with many people, and fruit bonsai are also favored by many growers. So how do you grow a pomelo bonsai, and what precautions are there? Below, the editor shares some handy life tips with you.
Tools/Materials
Pomelo seeds left over after eating, tweezers, a small pot or container, moist soil!
Coarse sand or small pebbles, a small spray bottle!
Method/Steps
1. After eating a pomelo, don't rush to throw away the pomelo seeds. You can find a small bowl, put the leftover pomelo seeds in it, pour in a little water, and let them soak for a while!
2. Once the outer skin of the pomelo seeds has softened from soaking, use tweezers to remove the outer shell. Be very careful with this step, and never damage the flesh inside the pomelo seed, or it may not sprout!
3. Then find a container you like or a small pot you have used before, fill it with moist soil, and arrange all the seeds with the pointed end facing up. Don't place them too densely; arrange them in an orderly way so the sprouts that come up later will also be neater!
4. Then find some coarse sand or small pebbles and spread them over the seeds. Don't spread it too thick; just cover the surface so they have room to breathe! If you want to see them sprout sooner, you can also cover them with plastic wrap, spray a little water every 2 to 3 days, and they will sprout in about a week!
5. Even after they sprout, spray a little water with a small spray bottle every 2 to 3 days to keep them moist, which helps them grow! If you think they are too crowded, you can also divide a few plants and move them elsewhere to grow. Pretty, isn't it? Doesn't it look full of life on your office desk?
6. A small potted plant needs care. Never water it every day at the beginning, or get too lazy to water it even once a week by the end! It is best to prepare a small spray bottle and use it to spray a little water every one or two days to refresh them!
What precautions are there?
1. When using tweezers to remove the shell, be very careful not to damage the flesh inside!
2. When placing them in the moist soil, remember to keep the pointed end facing up!
3. Remember to take care of it, don't let it stay dry for too long, and watering is an essential step!
