Pothos is very well suited to indoor growing and offers many benefits
In winter, because of the climate, green is rarely seen in offices, homes, or even the outdoor environment, and most green plants have withered, so some people grow indoor plants. What is good to grow indoors? Pothos is one of the indoor plants recommended by many people. So what are the benefits of choosing pothos as an indoor plant?
The stems and vines of pothos are thick and sturdy and can reach several meters in length, with aerial roots at the nodes. The young leaves are ovate-cordate; the leaves of newly propagated seedlings are smaller and lighter in color, and as the plant ages, the mature leaves become oblong-ovate, about 15cm long and about 10cm wide. The deep green leaf surface is inlaid with irregular yellow-white spots or stripes.
First is its decorative effect. Growing a pot of pothos indoors or outdoors, seeing its vivid, drippingly fresh emerald green can give people an aesthetic sense of pleasure and make body and mind feel refreshed, so its decorative effect is very prominent.
Its air-purifying effect. Pothos is a large evergreen climbing plant, and like spider plant and ivy, it has a very strong ability to purify the air. Pothos can absorb benzene, trichloroethylene, formaldehyde, and others from the air, so placing pothos in a newly renovated home is more suitable than anything. According to environmental scientists' research, one pot of pothos in a room of 8~10 sq m is equivalent to an air purifier. It can be seen that pothos's air-purifying ability is quite strong.
Its air-circulating effect. Pothos can draw in air and let a room ventilate and breathe. Why is this said? Plants themselves also breathe, absorbing carbon dioxide and exhaling oxygen. Pothos is generally placed by a window; when there is too much wind outside, it blocks some of it, and if there is no wind, it itself also releases new oxygen, and the oxygen enters the space where we live, making us more energetic and making the indoor air fresher.
Its ability to absorb kitchen odors. This is actually also one aspect of purifying the air. Placing pothos in the kitchen can effectively absorb some of the cooking-oil fumes caused by stir-frying and cooking, and clear away some other kitchen odors. It keeps our kitchen's air fresh.
Choosing pothos as an indoor plant to grow is very good, and the benefits it brings are also very many. But a reminder to everyone: when growing pothos, you need to be able to cultivate it patiently, and you need to water and fertilize it often so that it can grow without withering.
