How to grow spider plants and what methods are there

In home life, choosing a few attractive potted plants has become a must for home decoration today. They not only look beautiful but also offer certain benefits to family health. Among them, the spider plant is a great choice. Spider plants are not only easy to grow but can also freshen the air. So how do you grow spider plants? What methods are there? Today, let the editor introduce them to you.

How to grow spider plants?

1. Cutting method

Spider plant cuttings can be taken at any time from spring to autumn. Cut off the clustered stems and leaves on the spider plant's stolons (which are actually a young new plant, with leaves above and aerial roots below), plant them directly into a flowerpot to cultivate, water thoroughly, and place in a shady spot for care. When taking cuttings, be careful not to bury them too deep, otherwise the heart is prone to rot. When potting spider plants, the number of cuttings depends on the size of the pot. Generally, a small pot can hold 2-3 plants, a medium pot about 3, and a large pot up to 5-6.

2. Division method

When dividing spider plants, you can lift the plant out of the pot, remove the old soil and dead roots, cut apart the old roots so that each divided plant retains three stems, and then transplant and cultivate them separately. You can also cut off the clustered stems and leaves on the spider plant's stolons (which are actually a young new plant, with leaves above and aerial roots below) and plant them directly into a flowerpot to cultivate.

3. Sowing method

Spider plant seed propagation can be carried out every year in March. Because its seeds are not large, after sowing the seeds the covering soil should not be thick; generally 0.5 cm is enough. At a temperature of 15°C, the seeds can sprout in about 2 weeks, and after the seedlings take shape, transplant and cultivate them. When varieties with leaf variegation are propagated by seed, the offspring revert to all-green varieties.

From the above introduction, you can see that the planting methods for spider plants are very simple, and they are also easy to grow. Everyone should act quickly and choose an attractive spider plant for their home life, to use as a living room decoration!
