When do rose flowers bloom? Only with proper cultivation can the roses burst into bloom

Rose is a fairly common flower in everyday life. Whether by the roadside or at home, we can easily spot it. Many families have the habit of growing roses. So do you know about the flowering period and cultivation methods of roses? Today, the editor will talk about when rose flowers bloom and how to grow them.

Rose, also known as multiflora rose, is a deciduous or semi-evergreen creeping shrub of the genus Rosa in the family Rosaceae. The flowering period is from May to September, blooming in succession over as long as half a year. Due to global warming caused by the greenhouse effect, roses in some places begin to bloom as early as April, or even March.

Rose is a sun-loving flower and woody plant that needs plenty of sunlight, and it grows best in well-drained, fertile, moist soil. The cultivation techniques for roses include:

1. Sowing: Sowing is generally done from March to April. After sowing, cover with plastic film or set up a small plastic tunnel on the seedbed. The seedlings emerge in 8-10 days. If plastic film is used, remove it promptly once most seedlings have emerged to prevent burning the seedlings, and at the same time give the first watering, a gentle flood irrigation, to prevent silt from burying the seedlings. After that, water once every 10 days.

2. Thinning and fixing of seedlings: After the seedlings grow their first pair of true leaves, water once every 15 days. At the same time, pay attention to loosening the soil and weeding. When the seedlings reach 5-6 cm in height, carry out a one-time thinning and final spacing of seedlings.

3. Planting: Before planting, dig trenches and apply base fertilizer. Water frequently in spring. Each year new long branches grow from the roots, and flowers form on their side branches the same year. After flowering, cut off the branches that have bloomed. Multiflora rose is very tolerant of cold and fertilizer. During the growing process, pay attention to drainage and waterlogging prevention in the rainy season, and apply fertilizer 2-3 times to encourage the flowerless branches to bloom the following year. Before planting seedlings, the soil can be disinfected with disinfectants such as chloropicrin and dazomet (dimethylthiazine), and decomposed organic fertilizer should be applied at the same time. After planting, dig trenches and apply base fertilizer once each year in late autumn to promote growth and flowering.

4. Management: Before flowering, the soil must be kept moist; if it suffers drought at this time, the number of flowers will be affected. In the rainy season, pay attention to drainage and waterlogging prevention; too much standing water easily causes root rot. During the bud stage, apply 1-2 times of dilute cake fertilizer water; doing so gives good flower color and a long flowering period. Pruning is generally done before the leaf buds sprout. When pruning, keep the main branches at about 1.5 m and keep 3-5 buds at the base of the side branches. At the same time, remove dead branches, thin and weak branches, and diseased and pest-infested branches, and cut off overly old and dense branches. Each winter, mound soil and apply fertilizer once, and during the flowering season apply fertilizer 1-2 times per week. At the same time, do a good job of preventing and controlling pests and diseases such as sawflies, scale insects, aphids, as well as leaf scorch, canker, and black spot.
