Common Pest and Disease Control for Calibrachoa

Although Calibrachoa blooms abundantly, as beautiful as a cascading waterfall, these little plants are actually rather fragile during their growth process, and they face threats from many pests and diseases. We need to learn about them in order to carry out prevention and control work.

Common Diseases and Their Control

White mold disease

When symptoms appear, the diseased leaves should be removed immediately. In the early stages of the disease, spray with a 600-800 times dilution of 75% chlorothalonil.

Leaf spot disease

When infected by this disease, be careful not to bump the leaves, and avoid the adverse effects of wind damage, frost damage, and sunscald; also immediately remove the diseased leaves and burn them, and clear away fallen leaves as well; spray with a 1000 times dilution of 50% amobam.

Viral disease

Spraying insecticide to eliminate aphids can indirectly prevent this disease; a 1000 times solution of 40% omethoate can be used. During cultivation, the hands and tools that touch diseased plants must be disinfected.

Aphids

Diseased plants heavily infested with aphids should be isolated promptly, and sprayed with a 1000 times dilution of 10% omethoate emulsion, or a 1000-1500 times dilution of malathion emulsion, or a 15000-20000 times dilution of 70% imidacloprid water-dispersible granules, or a 1000 times dilution of dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate.

Whether pests and diseases can be treated in time determines whether these little plants can produce astonishingly lush flower clusters like a waterfall, and every flower lover must pay sufficient attention to this.
