Two methods for propagating lucky bamboo: soil cuttings and water cuttings both work

Because the name lucky bamboo carries the meaning of "wealth and honor," many people in daily life habitually grow it to improve the feng shui of their homes. Only when lucky bamboo grows well does it carry good feng shui significance, so most people hope their lucky bamboo at home can propagate as quickly as possible. Below are recommended propagation methods for lucky bamboo.

Soil cutting method for lucky bamboo
Timing for soil cuttings
The most suitable time for spring cuttings is from late January to mid-February, when it can be potted directly, generally rooting in 30~35 days. Or take cuttings in mid-March or early April, because during this period the temperature gradually rises and humidity increases, and after cutting it roots in 7~15 days with a 100% survival rate, which is relatively shorter in time.
Soil cutting method
Every spring, cut a 20~25 cm top shoot (tender stem), soak it in potassium permanganate solution for 30 minutes, then dry it in a shady place.
After drying, insert the stem into a pot, with sandy loam as the main soil, burying 2 stem nodes. Water once a day, and after rooting in 34~45 days, resume normal care.
Water cutting method for lucky bamboo
Cutting off branches
Cut off lucky bamboo branches
In spring, according to the growth of the lucky bamboo, cut off branches with stem tips that have long grown in a shaded indoor spot.
Water cutting of lucky bamboo
Cut off the leaves around it and insert it directly into water, keeping the water temperature at around 25°C; it will root after half a month.
Change the water frequently
Change the water frequently
Rooting in water is different from soil cutting; water cuttings need frequent water changes to keep the water clean, changing the water once every 3~4 days before rooting. Usually the water level should also be controlled well, with one third of the stem submerged; too much water makes rooting difficult.
Temperature control and lighting
Lucky bamboo likes warmth; during water cutting, keep the surrounding ambient temperature at 16~25°C and do not place it in a cold spot. In addition, before rooting it needs sufficient light, which is the key to successful water cutting.
Temperature control
After half a month, many white roots will grow from the bottom of your lucky bamboo; this means the water cutting has succeeded, and at this point you can continue growing it in water or plant it in a pot.
At present, these two methods are mainly used for propagating lucky bamboo; which method to choose is up to people, as long as it is convenient for them. In the process of growing lucky bamboo, professional knowledge is needed, and temperature, watering, soil, fertilizing, and pest removal all need to be mastered to make lucky bamboo grow luxuriantly.
