Pothos is a typical foliage plant. Its leaves are emerald green, and it grows very quickly. It can be grown in soil or in water. One pot of pothos in a room of 8-10 sq m is equivalent to an air purifier. It can absorb benzene, trichloroethylene, formaldehyde and other substances from the air, help soothe tense nerves, and relax tired eyes. If you want your pothos to stay evergreen, you must master the growing techniques. What causes pothos leaves to turn yellow? Let us take a look together below.

Reasons for Yellowing Pothos Leaves:
Yellowing pothos leaves are caused by three things: water, light and fertilizer, and these three are also essential to master when growing plants.
1. Improper watering:
Pothos is a plant that loves water. Even when grown in soil, it needs a sufficient water supply. Otherwise, nutrient uptake will be insufficient, the leaf surface will become dull yellow and lusterless, and the leaf tips will begin to wither and dry out.
2. Too much light:
Pothos is different from other plants. The reason it is grown indoors more often is that it prefers shade. In daily care, avoid placing pothos in direct sunlight. Too much light and excessively high temperatures can also cause pothos leaves to turn yellow.
3. Too much fertilizer:
Pothos is an evergreen plant. A small amount of fertilizer can be applied in autumn and winter. Be careful not to apply too much fertilizer, and the concentration must not be too high, otherwise the leaves will look unkempt and pothos leaves will turn yellow and fall off.
Pothos varieties:
There are many kinds of pothos. According to leaf color, they can be divided into marble, green-leaf, yellow-leaf and many other types, while some Monstera, silver vine and konjac on the market are branches of the pothos family.
Green-leaf pothos: the leaves are entirely green, with no patterns or mixed colors.
Yellow-leaf pothos: the leaves are light golden yellow, and the leaf blades are relatively thin.
Marble pothos: the leaves have markings of various colors.
Large-leaf silver pothos: the leaves have milky white markings.
Platinum pothos: the leaves have irregular yellow stripes.
Tricolor pothos: the leaves have green and yellow-cream markings.
Star-spot vine: the leaves have velvety green, full silver-green patches or spots.
Growing pothos:
1. Temperature:
The suitable growing temperature is about 25°C during the day, and in winter the suitable temperature should be kept at 10-13°C, generally not lower than 7°C. In winter, be careful to avoid too large a temperature difference, and also make sure the leaves are not close to heating equipment.
2. Soil:
When growing pothos indoors at home, choose loose, well-drained, slightly acidic soil for potting. In addition, growing it directly in water is also fine, because pothos is an amphibious plant.
3. Watering:
Pothos likes a warm and humid environment, so watering frequently is very important. In addition to keeping the pot moist, you can also spray water on the pothos leaves to increase humidity, which can make the leaves more glossy.
4. Fertilizing:
Before winter begins, you can fertilize pothos appropriately. Fertilizing is mainly foliar feeding, and the fertilizer is mainly liquid inorganic fertilizer. Fertilizing about once every 15 days is better. When fertilizing, you can use the method of spraying the leaf surface.
5. Propagation:
Pothos is generally propagated by cuttings. Its root branches are clearly divided. If you want to divide the pot, just take it out directly and insert the pothos stems into water; they root very easily.
