How to water Dieffenbachia? You cannot water it casually if you want to grow it well
Dieffenbachia is a plant with green leaves all year round. To improve the indoor home environment, modern people grow some green plants, and Dieffenbachia is one of the options. When growing Dieffenbachia, you need to water it, so how do you water Dieffenbachia?
Dieffenbachia (spotted dumb cane) likes moisture and fears dryness. The potting soil should be kept moist. During the growing season, it should be watered thoroughly, and water should be sprayed around it and misted over the plant. Spring and autumn are the peak growing seasons for Dieffenbachia, so watering must be very sufficient, the potting soil also needs to be kept in a moist state often, and its branches and leaves should frequently be sprayed with clean water at a temperature close to room temperature to prevent the occurrence of dry tips, but be careful not to let it become waterlogged. If water is not sprayed for a long time, the leaf surface becomes rough and loses its luster. In summer, keep air humidity at 60%-70%, and in winter at around 40%. Soil moisture is best kept in an alternating dry-and-wet pattern. In summer it should be watered more, and in winter watering needs to be controlled, otherwise if the potting soil is too wet, the roots are prone to rot and the leaves turn yellow and wither.
Key points to note when planting
1. Light: Dieffenbachia tolerates shade and fears sun exposure. If the light is too strong, the leaf surface becomes rough, the leaf margins and leaf tips are prone to scorching, and even large areas may be burned.
For those kept in dark places for a long time, the leaf surface color will become dull, and the leaves will become soft and no longer upright, thus directly affecting its ornamental effect.
2. Temperature: Dieffenbachia is native to Colombia and likes a warm, humid climate. The suitable growth temperature for Dieffenbachia is 25-30°C. The effect is good with a daytime temperature of 30°C and a nighttime temperature of 25°C. In winter, the indoor temperature should also be maintained at around 15°C, with a minimum of 10°C. The possible growth range is 18-30°C from February to September, and 13-18°C from September to February of the following year. Dieffenbachia likes a warm and humid climate. It is not cold-tolerant, so when the temperature drops below 10°C, necessary insulation measures must be taken. When the temperature is 20-24°C, Dieffenbachia grows fastest, but when the temperature reaches above 30°C, it stops growing, and the leaves are also very likely to turn yellow and become dry at the tips. Therefore, in summer, attention should be paid to preventing heat and cooling down, and good ventilation work should be done.
