Today I want to share with you a trick to make potted asparagus fern and orchids dense, emerald green, and strong-rooted. What we are talking about is sawdust. As long as your home is being renovated or cabinets are being made, quite a lot of wood shavings will be left behind, and using them to grow flowers makes a very good growing medium.

First of all, using sawdust and wood shavings also requires the right method. Pure wood shavings can also be used to grow flowers, but the nutrients are not enough. Although it is better than not using it, it is still not quite satisfactory, and when wood shavings are too moist they can also cause white fungus. So before using them, it is best to compost and ferment them.

Fermentation is also relatively simple, and it can be done in just 3 simple steps.

1. Put the wood shavings into a plastic bag or bucket, then add an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer, add enough water, and if it is rice-washing water, even better, then seal the opening.

2. Put it in the sun to bake, especially when the temperature is high in summer. After about a month it can be fully composted, and generally when it turns dark brown it is ready.

3. Then dry it until it is half-dry, mix in half soil, and it is ready to use.

After fermentation and decomposition, sawdust has comprehensive nutrients and a loose texture, with moderate dryness and moisture. It is a simple soilless cultivation material, especially suitable for potted asparagus fern, orchids, and the like. Using it as potting soil to grow flowers and plants can make them dense, emerald green, and strong-rooted. It is very good to use.
