Whenever you see the fresh and refined fox brush orchid, it really feels like watching Yang Liping dance. This kind of orchid closely resembles the fingernails of a beauty stained with nail dye and has very high ornamental value. The old gardener editor first encountered the fox brush orchid at a leader's home, and the moment he first saw such a beautiful orchid, he was immediately captivated. After going back, in order to make the courtyard even more fresh and refined, he bought two fox brush orchids. Through trial and error, the Warm Little Home old gardener editor summed up his experience in growing fox brush orchids well.

To grow a pot of fox brush orchid well, there are mainly four points.

First point, soil:

The fox brush orchid should be planted in a naturally sandy substrate with good air permeability and rich in humus. This slightly acidic, iron-containing soil is relatively favorable for the root growth of this plant. When the fox brush orchid is young, it can be planted in a clay pot, because the soil in this kind of container dries relatively easily, which is relatively beneficial for the fox brush orchid's rooting and development. After 2-3 years, it can be transplanted into a porcelain pot or purple clay pot, and when transplanting, the roots need to be washed.

Second point, light:

Like most orchids, the fox brush orchid also likes a cool and ventilated environment. Wild orchids mostly grow in deep mountains and secluded valleys, so direct sunlight must absolutely be avoided, or it may simply be hung under the eaves (especially in summer), in which case the fox brush orchid very easily withers and dies. The correct approach is to grow it in a place where it can receive scattered light, so that it can enjoy sufficient light without it being too intense.

Third point, humidity:

Since it originally grows in a humid environment, it is best to maintain a stable high-humidity environment for the fox brush orchid. This kind of orchid is very afraid of dryness, but when watering it, do not be too forceful. Humidity can be increased by misting, which will not damage the plant. Moreover, if you are dividing it, reduce watering to keep the potting soil relatively dry. After transplanting, water thoroughly once and place it in a cool and ventilated place for 10 days to half a month, during which time keep the potting soil moist and gradually carry out normal care.

Fourth point, temperature:

The fox brush orchid is originally a tropical plant, but because it grows in high mountains and deep valleys, its most suitable temperature is 15°C-30°C. Above 35 degrees most affects growth and development, while a minimum temperature below 10 degrees makes it prone to frost damage. So if you grow fox brush orchids in a place with four distinct seasons, you need to provide air conditioning and heating for it in summer and winter respectively. Growing it at a temperature of about 15°C is most favorable for growth and flowering.

Points to note:

The seeds of the fox brush orchid are extremely fine, containing only one incompletely developed embryo, and in addition the seed coat does not easily absorb water. If sown by conventional methods, it cannot naturally produce sprouts, so it is also necessary to first use orchid fungi or an artificial culture medium to provide nutrients to the fox brush orchid seeds before they can grow embryos. It is also best to choose seeds that have not cracked open. For home cultivation, we generally buy young plants to grow, without needing to cultivate them ourselves.
