After home renovation, more or less some sawdust is usually left behind, but many people do not understand the uses of sawdust, so they treat this sawdust as garbage and throw it away, which is really a huge waste! In fact, sawdust has many uses, especially in flower growing. How do you use wood shavings to grow flowers? Can wood shavings be used to grow flowers? Read on and you will know.

Wood shavings, that is, sawdust, are a relatively ideal material for potted flowers. The benefits of using wood shavings to grow flowers are: 1. Wood shavings are loose and breathable, with strong water permeability, and can retain moisture and drain well; 2. Wood shavings can neutralize the pH of the soil; 3. Potted flowers grown with wood shavings have lush branches and leaves and bright flowers with rich fragrance; 4. Wood shavings are clean and hygienic, and also very convenient to use; 5. Wood shavings are light in weight, making it easy to move flowers around, and are very suitable for elderly people growing flowers and for growing flowers on urban balconies.

Wood shavings are a cheap soilless cultivation substrate, lightweight and able to absorb water and breathe, and they play a great role in growing flowers. Newly transplanted flowers and plants, especially flower seedlings sent by mail, may suffer severe water loss because of the long time in transit and be withered and on the verge of death. At this time, if they are planted in nutrient soil with a relatively high fertilizer content, the seedlings will be burned to death; if they are planted in soil without fertilizer, after watering the soil easily becomes compacted and lacks air, and the new seedlings will also suffocate and die. If sawdust is used to plant new seedlings, because sawdust is loose, breathable, warmth-retaining, and moisture-retaining, after a period of time new roots grow again from the old root parts of the dried root fibers of the new seedlings, bringing the seedlings back from the dead and restoring their vitality.

Preparation method: Take fresh wood shavings and put them into a plastic bag; then add an appropriate amount of cake fertilizer, and if there is chicken or rabbit manure, even better; add enough water, and rice-washing water is even better. Cover it or seal the bag opening, place it in a relatively warm place, and let it ferment until it turns dark brown.

The decomposed wood shavings can then be used to grow flowers, especially for orchids and other fleshy-rooted plants. Using decomposed wood shavings to grow them is simply the best!
