Pothos is usually propagated by cuttings, and the cutting method is very simple, but for beginners who are new to growing flowers, it is still something they need to master and understand.

1. Prepare the soil

Before taking cuttings, you need to prepare the soil substrate needed for its growth. Pothos is suitable for growing in a fairly loose environment. Generally, you can choose vermiculite, perlite, sand, leaf mold, and so on. After mixing them evenly, put the mix into a flowerpot.

2. Select the branches

The branches used for cuttings must ensure a high survival rate, so generally choose branches that are robust and free of pests and diseases, and usually just cut off their tips.

3. Treat the cuttings

Use scissors to cut the branches used for cuttings into sections, one by one. Each section should keep two to three leaves below, and it is best if it has one bud point.

4. Take the cuttings

After the branches are trimmed, you can take the cuttings. Generally, insert them directly into the soil, leaving one third of the cutting exposed. You can cover the surface with a layer of plastic film, and at the same time the soil needs to be watered thoroughly.

5. Care techniques after cutting

After pothos cuttings are taken, the soil needs to be kept moist. You can use a small spray bottle to water frequently to avoid the soil drying out. After cuttings are taken, the plants have weak resistance, so do not expose them to strong sunlight. Place them in a cool, warm place to grow for a period of time, which can promote plant growth. When the leaves of the pothos gradually sprout and the branches gradually grow to a healthy and robust state, you can move the flowerpot into the sun.
