A Comparative Table of Trait Identification for Major Horticultural Cultivars of Changchun Clivia (with original images)
1. "Da Shengli" (Great Victory): an excellent early Clivia cultivar. Leaves medium-wide, short-pointed, dark green, glossy on the surface; flowers large and bright, blooming uniformly; fruit spherical. From it, cultivars such as "Er Shengli" (Second Victory) were further bred.
2. "Ranchang" (Dye Works): leaves relatively wide, tapering to a point, thin and arched, flowers bright red; fruit ovoid.
3. "Heshang" (Monk): one of the early famous cultivars. Leaves wide, sharply pointed, poor gloss, veins relatively prominent, dark green; flowers purple-red, fruit oblong. Using it as the female parent, cultivars such as "Baotou Heshang", "Xiao Heshang", "Guangtou Heshang", "Tiebei Heshang", "Heshang Duanye" and "Hualian Heshang" were further selected and bred.
4. Qingdao Large-leaf Clivia: leaf sheath wedge-shaped, leaves drooping and arched, leaf length 70-80 cm, leaf width about 6 cm, length-to-width ratio about 12:1. Leaf surface dark green, slightly glossy, veins flat and visible but not raised, patterns irregular, flower scape relatively tall, berries olive-shaped. Qingdao Large-leaf belongs to the large-form narrow-leaf cultivar group. Leaves slender, head shape sharply pointed, poor brightness and fineness, average stiffness and thickness. Rosette shape wedge-shaped. Plant form slanting-upright, leaves curving downward in a vertical arch, leaves having a certain substance.
5. "Youjiang" (Oil Craftsman): one of the early superior cultivars. Leaves wide, tapering to a point, green and glossy; leaves slanting-upright, veins raised; flowers large and orange-red; fruit round-spherical. Using it as the mother parent, cultivars such as "Xiao Youjiang" were also bred.
6. "Huang Jishi" (Yellow Technician): leaves wide, short-pointed, pale green, glossy, veins raised in a "tian" (field) character shape; flowers red, blooming uniformly; fruit spherical.
7. "Da Laochen" (Old Chen): leaves relatively wide, tapering to a point, dark green; flowers deep red, fruit spherical.
8. "Duanye" (Short Leaf): leaves medium-wide, sharply pointed, dark green, flowers orange-red; fruit round-spherical. Leaves short.
There are also cultivars such as "Chuncheng Duanye", "Xiao Baicai", "Xiguapi", "Jinsilan", "Yuantou" and "Yuantou Duanye".
