Paddlefish "settle" in **Bozhou

On May 17, 1,200 paddlefish fry donated to Bozhou by the Hubei Provincial Fisheries Research Institute arrived in Bozhou. Staff from the Prefecture Aquatic Technology Extension Station placed the fry respectively into the Ebinur Lake Yangtze River mitten crab breeding base, the Bole City fish farm and the Bohe Lvshuiyuan Aquatic Company for experimental breeding.

The paddlefish is a large freshwater commercial fish, native to the Mississippi River basin in the United States. In 1990, China introduced fertilized eggs of this fish from the United States, and mass production has now been successfully achieved.

Paddlefish meat is delicious, and the snout is rich in collagen and highly nutritious, making it a banquet delicacy. At present, each kilogram of finished fish sells for about 120 yuan. Paddlefish can also be sold as ornamental fish, with those 15 cm in body length priced at 30 yuan each.
