Linli, Hunan Builds "Safety Project" for Rural Roads
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Recently, the author accompanied cadres from the Linli County Transportation Bureau on a return visit to inspect the construction of township and village roads. Driving on the Qiting Line from Xiumei to Tingxian, along the 25.5-kilometer concrete road, speed bumps, direction signs and warning signs can be seen everywhere at curves, slopes and intersections. According to Li Huilong, director of the County and Township Road Management Office of the County Transportation Bureau, in order to ensure rural road traffic safety, more than 800,000 yuan has now been invested in the construction of the safety project.
Linli's construction of township and village roads leads the province and has set up a banner. More than 91% of the county's villages are connected by concrete roads, with a total mileage of more than 1,100 kilometers. However, because rural concrete roads have complex road conditions, increased vehicle traffic and higher speeds, hidden safety hazards have also increased. For this reason, the county government listed the construction of the rural road safety project as a practical matter to be handled. Acting County Mayor Wang Xuewu presided over a special meeting to coordinate and strengthen supervision. Despite tight finances, the county finance department allocated special funds, and the county invested a total of more than 800,000 yuan to install speed bumps, direction signs, warning signs and the like on a large scale in a concentrated effort. To speed up progress, construction workers did not rest on holidays and implemented the work step by step in a targeted manner. The supporting safety facilities for the main rural roads have now been completed.
According to transportation department staff, in the future a more detailed and specific comprehensive plan will also be drawn up, and the construction of safety facilities will be advanced step by step, striving for full coverage of the safety project and ensuring driving safety on the rural road traffic network.
