Autumn Oil Sunflower Harvest in Wuxuan, Guangxi

(Agricultural Wealth Network)    Wuxuan County closely focuses on the goals of increasing agricultural efficiency and farmers' incomes, continuously accelerates industrial structural adjustment, and vigorously develops short, flexible and quick projects -- oil sunflower production -- to help farmers increase their incomes. The county planted more than 20,000 mu of oil sunflowers in autumn and established 2 thousand-mu high-yield oil sunflower demonstration plots. Thanks to adequate services such as technical guidance and field management, at present, the oil sunflower harvest work throughout the county is nearing completion. Recently, the agricultural department organized relevant personnel to carry out yield measurement and acceptance; the higher yield of sunflower seeds reached 205 kg/mu, and the general yield reached 150 kg/mu, so the oil sunflowers enjoyed a bumper harvest. Farmer Huang Shihong of Tuyintang said with a smile: "My own sunflower seeds yield 200 kg per mu. Calculated according to the current market oil price and oil extraction rate, an income of 1,600 yuan per mu of oil sunflowers is no problem at all."
