2009 Grain Planting Plan in Qilin District, Yunnan Exceeded

    Focusing on the annual targets set by the municipal government of a grain sowing area of 430,000 mu and an output of 174 million kg, Qilin District made plans and arrangements early and vigorously implemented measures. The district's grain sowing area has reached 444,700 mu (excluding late autumn crops), an increase of 14,700 mu over the planned 430,000 mu, or 3.42% above plan. Of this, the main spring grain and bean sowing area reached 242,000 mu (all spring crop planting was completed by May 25), with 110,800 mu of rice, 64,700 mu of corn, 34,700 mu of potatoes, and 31,800 mu of miscellaneous grains; the minor spring grain planting area reached 202,700 mu, but due to the impact of frost damage, the minor spring crop output reached only 38.629 million kg (preliminary estimate by the statistics bureau), a decrease of 6.57 million kg from the planned 45.2 million kg, or a drop of 14.54%.
