The first batch of spring cocoons in Tianyuan Town enjoys a bountiful harvest.

On June 3, Tianyuan Town began purchasing the first batch of spring silkworm cocoons by open weighing. Frame after frame of snow-white, plump cocoons of excellent quality drew praise from buyers. The average purchase price for fresh top-grade cocoons reached 21.6 yuan per kg, delighting local residents.

That day, a total of 173 farming households sold 3,844.3 kg of silkworm cocoons, with total revenue reaching 82,333 yuan, of which fresh top-grade cocoons accounted for 3,767.4 kg, or 98% of the total sold.

This year is the town's second year of mulberry cultivation. For the first batch of spring silkworms, the town distributed 136 sheets of silkworm eggs to farmers and planned to purchase in two batches. This purchase was the first batch, and the second batch will be purchased in another 6 days. Although drought weather was encountered earlier this year, through last year's practical exploration, the broad masses are full of confidence in developing sericulture. In addition, town and village officials assigned to households carried out technical training and services, and the management and breeding levels of the entire sericulture industry have improved considerably. Sericulture income has not decreased but increased greatly. Han Shaohui's family in the Shangsanjia group of Youwen Village raised 2.33 sheets of this batch of spring silkworms, and each sheet sold for 43.8 kg of fresh top-grade cocoons, earning 2,213 yuan that day. Old Han said: "According to the growth of the mulberry field, this year we can raise at least 5 batches, and earn at least more than 10,000 yuan. Next year, when the mulberry field enters its high-yield period, the number of silkworms raised will increase further, and income will increase further."

At the cocoon purchasing station, town and village officials busily helped the masses with grading and quality checks, hoping every household could sell at a price worthy of the goods; among the farming households, there was quiet competition to see whose silkworms were raised best and earned the most, and everyone's face was filled with the joy and hope of a bountiful harvest.
