The output value of cattle farming and related industries in Faku, Liaoning will reach more than 25 billion yuan.
"Faku" comes from Manchu and originally means "a place with lush water and grass." Historically, Faku was once a habitat for the Manchu and Mongol peoples and has a long history of cattle farming. As the impact of the financial crisis gradually deepened, cattle farming in Faku nonetheless showed a "bull market" development trend.
"This year, the county's cattle inventory should reach 400,000 head, 309 specialized breeding communities should be built, and the total output value of the county's cattle farming and related industries should reach more than 25 billion yuan, initially establishing the industrial foundation for Faku to be China's number one county for the cattle industry," introduced Feng Shouquan, head of Faku County.
With favorable winds to rely on, Faku County seized the opportunity and vigorously developed the cattle industry. On the basis of support policies issued by the province and city, it introduced a series of assistance policies. In addition, Faku County was designated as a "pilot county in Liaoning Province for innovation in rural financial products and service methods," which provided financial guarantees for farmers to develop the cattle industry and made it possible for any ordinary farming household to join the breeding industry.
At present, Faku already has more than 50 cattle farming professional cooperatives, and the county has formed a cattle farming service network covering villages and townships. At the same time, it has focused on introducing related circular economy industries such as liquor production, feed processing, dairy processing, leather processing, organic fertilizer production, and biogas utilization, gradually realizing a circular, ecological, and sustainable economic model. At present, with only button mushrooms and organic fertilizer production appearing in Faku, the annual utilization volume of cattle manure is already more than 400 tons. The Shenyang Feiqier bioenergy project, about to go into production in August, will use biological waste to produce biogas and provide a heat source for Faku's ceramics industry.
"It is expected that by 2013, the county's cattle inventory will reach 1.5 million head, 5 feed mills with an annual processing capacity of 100,000 tons will be introduced, 90 base liquor plants with an annual production capacity of 500 tons, 7 slaughter and processing plants with an annual slaughter and processing capacity of 100,000 head, and 7 leather factories, while organic fertilizer plants will increase to 5. At the same time, we will accelerate the development of related industries such as dairy processing and biogas power generation, and realize the circular economy of cattle industry development, including the effective utilization of organic fertilizer." Speaking of the future, Huo Fulai, director of the Faku County Animal Health Inspection Bureau, made the above statement full of confidence.
