Qingtian fish ecological type pollution-free breeding model vigorously promoted in Zunyi
The reporter recently learned from the Zunyi County Animal Husbandry Bureau that the Qingtian fish farming system, which was listed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in April 2005 as one of the first batch of "World Agricultural Heritage Conservation Projects," has this year been introduced to 22 townships in Zunyi County. It marks the use of the principle of rice-fish symbiosis to produce more products in effective space and area and create higher economic benefits. A three-dimensional, efficient, ecological pollution-free planting and breeding model has initially taken shape in our city.
It is understood that Qingtian fish is a famous specialty of Qingtian County, Zhejiang Province. It is a variant of carp, with four colors: red, black, white and mottled. This field fish comes out of the rice field without a muddy smell, its meat is tender and delicious, and its scales are soft and edible. According to measurements by the Zhejiang Provincial Academy of Medical Sciences, it is very rich in nutrition and is a wonder among freshwater fish. Field fish is also a medicinal fish; its meat has diuretic and swelling-reducing effects. The Qingtian fish breeding model uses the principle of rice-fish symbiosis, does not affect rice yield, and can increase fish farming income. Frames are built over fish pits and fish ditches to grow melons and fruits, and vegetables and fruits are planted on the field ridges, allowing melons, fruits, rice and fish to complement each other, forming a benign material cycle and energy conversion, producing more products in effective space and area, creating higher economic benefits, and forming a three-dimensional, efficient, ecological pollution-free planting and breeding model. Rice field fish farming requires little investment and has high comprehensive benefits. It has obvious effects in safeguarding grain, increasing money, increasing water, increasing fish, and saving land. It is known as the "four small projects," namely small water cellar, small granary, small fertilizer factory, and small bank, and plays a positive role in adjusting the rural industrial structure.
Last year, after Qingtian fish was successfully trial-bred in Meitan, due to good market prospects, it brought considerable economic income to the trial-breeding people.
In order to let this enriching industry benefit the people, this year Zunyi County vigorously promoted Qingtian fish breeding in 22 townships across the county. The county government established an industry leading group composed of heads of relevant departments such as the Agricultural Office, Animal Husbandry Bureau, and Water Conservancy Bureau. In order to fully master breeding technology, the county government organized all townships to visit and study in Meitan, and held a county-wide Qingtian fish breeding work conference to arrange and deploy Qingtian fish breeding work throughout the county. In response to the fry cost of 60 yuan per 1 mu, the county issued a preferential policy of subsidizing half free of charge and lending 20 yuan per mu, so farmers only need to raise 10 yuan per mu themselves to breed 300 Qingtian fish. According to Li Decai, director of the county Animal Husbandry Bureau, the number of breeding households in the county has now increased to 2,190, the implemented breeding area has reached more than 7,000 mu, 2,353 fish pits have been dug, with an area of 157,048 sq m, and the pollution-free ecological breeding model has been spread over a large area throughout the county.
