Huaiyuan County in Anhui uses the internet to send its agricultural products far and wide

Sitting at home and clicking a mouse is all it takes to get orders for selling fresh agricultural products. These past few days, farmers in Liuying Village in the New Urban District of Huaiyuan County have really had their eyes opened: under the unified operation of the village celery association, the brokers responsible for selling celery only need to send an "E-mail" online to do business and complete transactions with vegetable supermarkets in Shanghai, Nanjing and other places.

In recent years, Huaiyuan has completed one agricultural product transaction after another through agricultural product online trading platforms and agricultural information networks, amid the "clatter" of computer keyboards.

Wu Zhaoping, who lives in Wuqiao Village, Zhaoying Township, designed a webpage for high-quality japonica glutinous rice with the help and guidance of Wang Jin, a village official who is a university graduate. Now "Factory Director Wu" only needs to click on the page each day to enter the market and trade. He said happily: In the past, to sell rice I had to travel all over to find markets and gather information, which not only cost a great deal in travel expenses, but sometimes the information I found had become an "outdated almanac" because it was so untimely. Now, sitting at home, with one click of the mouse, business from all over comes to my door.

By building an online agricultural product trading platform, the county has established a complete new service system covering information publishing, online transactions, logistics tracking and food safety, using agriculture-related websites and webpages as sales bridges, so that sales and contract signing are "settled with one click." According to statistics from the relevant departments, all 72 farmers' specialized cooperative organizations established in the county have designed dedicated webpages or specialized sites. Ordinary people can stay at home and negotiate business and complete transactions using their computer keyboards.

At present, the county has more than 11,000 registered users. Every day, through internet connections, more than 20 tons of agricultural products are sold to other places. Online sales have sent local agricultural products far and wide, and sales channels for fresh vegetables such as Shenying scallions and Liuying celery have extended to coastal markets in Guangdong, Zhejiang and other places, with some even entering regions such as Hong Kong, China and Macao, China.
