Eel cage aquaculture becomes a new highlight of aquaculture in Hengfeng County

    This year, returning migrant workers in Hengfeng County, Jiangxi, placed 200 cages to engage in eel cage aquaculture, with more than 2000 jin of wild eel fry, and an estimated output of 10,000 jin and an output value of about 200,000 yuan. Using cages to artificially farm eels breaks the traditional notion that "eels cannot leave the soil," and has the characteristics of occupying little land, using little water, being simple to operate, easy to harvest, convenient to manage, and high in economic benefit, thus being deeply welcomed by the vast number of aquaculture farmers and being a very good path to wealth for increasing the income of farmer friends. Technical personnel from our county's aquaculture station actively guide farmer friends to domesticate wild eel fry by artificial farming methods, regularly provide technical guidance to returning migrant workers, create a wild environment, plant water peanuts and water hyacinths, and carry out domestication feeding through artificial feed and small fish compound feed mixed with vitamins and other health-care drugs to enhance the physique of the eel fry and reduce disease incidence, and regularly apply medicine to prevent eel diseases, using biological agents for ecological disease prevention. Under the careful guidance of the technical personnel, the eel fry currently feed normally and are in good condition. Eel cage aquaculture has also gradually become a new highlight in the development of aquaculture in our county.
