Jinzhou Special Breeding Base Helps Farmers Get Rich by Raising Foxes
Jinzhou Laojin Special Economic Animal Breeding Base is located in Sanjiazi Village, Xiangying Town, Jinzhou District, with a total investment of more than 1.8 million yuan. It was established in 2002 and focuses mainly on raising Finnish Arctic foxes, integrating the raising and scientific research and development of fur animals such as silver-black foxes, red foxes, and marble foxes. It is currently the largest specialized fox-raising enterprise in the Dalian area and has been designated by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a demonstration and promotion base for new efficient fur-bearing animal breeding technology. The base covers about 30 mu, with more than 1,500 breeding foxes and 70 Finnish original breeding male foxes currently kept. The base signs purchase-and-raising contracts with surrounding specialized farming households. The base is responsible for breeding superior breeding foxes for the farmers, supplying feed, and providing technical services. The commercial foxes raised by the farmers are then bought back by the base according to the contracts, with unified processing and unified sales. In 2003, the base collected a total of 5,000 fox skins, with total revenue of 1.5 million yuan and net income of more than 600,000 yuan, and it helped more than 30 surrounding farming households get rich by raising foxes.
