College student Deng Guojun, a skilled entrepreneur who found prosperity through bamboo rat farming in Lianzhou

He is a college student who, after graduation, returned to his hometown to set up a farm, raising an edible animal called the bamboo rat, which is very popular in the market. Next, let our cameras take everyone into the story of young entrepreneur Deng Guojun, to learn about his path to prosperity through entrepreneurship.

In the farm that Deng Guojun rented and built, in pen after pen of dens separated by cement boards, one endearing "rat" after another lies quietly in the corner. Deng Guojun explained that this kind of "rat" is called the bamboo rat, also known locally as the mang rat. At present, his farm has more than 70 breeding rats in stock. Because its meat is fine and tender, fresh and delicious, and has high nutritional and medicinal value, it is very popular in the Pearl River Delta region.

Deng Guojun also said that the bamboo rat has a very high survival rate. Generally, they only need to be raised for half a year, until they reach two to three jin, before they can be sold. Moreover, the farming cost for each one is only about 10 yuan, because they are all "vegetarians."

Speaking of scientific bamboo rat breeding techniques, Deng Guojun said that in the past he did not even know how to raise chickens or geese. All of this was figured out little by little through earlier failures and the trials of entrepreneurship. For example, bamboo rats are not like other poultry, where the bigger and heavier they are raised, the better the price they can fetch.

Because bamboo rats have low costs, quick returns, and high profits, many people have now begun to join the breeding ranks and ask him for advice on breeding methods. Deng Guojun is not worried at all about mutual competition. On the contrary, he is very optimistic about the broad market for bamboo rats, and he also hopes that this new project can point out a path to prosperity for the farmers in his hometown.
