Meat donkey farming broadens the road to prosperity in Dawu Matou Village, Wudi, Shandong

    Dawu Matou Village in Jieshishan Town, Wudi County, Shandong Province is a specialized meat donkey farming village. Nearly every household in the village raises meat donkeys. In early 2007, villager Wu Qiang told reporters cheerfully: "Don't underestimate the few donkeys I raise. Each one can add more than 2,000 yuan to my income every year!"  

     It is reported that, in order to speed up farmers' income growth and accelerate the pace of becoming prosperous, the county established two Dezhou donkey breeding bases. In addition to providing farmers with full technical training and guidance on breeding services, each donkey is also given a subsidy of 50 yuan, which has greatly stimulated the public's enthusiasm for raising donkeys. The county has now become one of the larger meat donkey breeding bases in Shandong Province.
