Tianjin Dazhangzhuang Town Completes Planting of 7,690 mu of Winter Wheat

    In recent days, farmers across Dazhangzhuang Town have seized the farming season to sow winter wheat while the soil moisture is favorable. As a major agricultural town, Dazhangzhuang Town has planted 7,690 mu of winter wheat this year, accounting for more than 90% of the total winter wheat sown area in Beichen District. 

This year, wheat farmers in the town have generally chosen stable-yielding older varieties such as Jingdong 8 and You 93. At the same time, they have stepped up efforts to implement the improved-seed project, introducing a new winter wheat variety, Shijiazhuang 8. Across the town's villages, the area planted with uniformly high-quality winter wheat accounts for more than 85% of the total sown area, essentially achieving one improved variety per village. Technical personnel went into the fields to guide farmers in sowing winter wheat and tested the soil fertility of the planted plots, advising farmers to fertilize rationally according to the test results. Based on last year's average yield of 750 jin per mu and a price of 0.97 yuan per jin, next year's total winter wheat revenue will reach 60 million yuan.
