Expert Grower Li Huaying

Who says women are inferior to men? Li Huaying, who dared to challenge her fate, has many times been awarded by the Corps, the Division, and the Regiment the titles of national "Double Knowledge and Double Learning" advanced individual, March 8th Red Banner Pacesetter, May 1st Labor Medal for Stationing Troops and Guarding the Frontier, Division Young Expert at Becoming Rich, Division Top Ten Farming Expert, Regiment Tomato Champion, Sugar Beet Champion, Pepper King, and other honorary titles. In 2008 she was rated by the Division as an advanced model of a harmonious well-off family and as the Regiment's Tomato Champion.

Li Huaying, in order to enrich her theoretical knowledge as quickly as possible and raise her planting level, in 2004 contracted 24 mu of sugar beet. She strictly followed the company's requirements; after the sugar beet seedlings emerged, she carefully checked and replanted seedlings, managed them meticulously, and whenever she had time humbly sought advice and learned from veteran workers. Because her management that year was on point, the per-unit yield reached 6.19 tons, making her the Regiment's sugar beet planting champion.

In 2005, in the same plot of land, she planted 25 mu of iron-skin peppers, with a per-unit yield of 531 kg. Many people wanted to know the secret of Li Huaying's success, and her answer was very simple, just two words: "careful". While others all rushed to water during the day, Li Huaying deliberately watered in the afternoon or evening; when others finished their work and did not go to the field for several days, she, after finishing work, would still check row by row very carefully, and wherever something had not been done well, she would conscientiously make it up; during the slack farming season, when there was little work in the field, she would go to the field to take a look every day or two, and as soon as she found any slight change in the plants, she would immediately look up materials to investigate the cause and find a solution; when she encountered a disease or condition she could not figure out, she would immediately go find technicians to take a look, and whatever medicine was needed, no matter how far, she would immediately go buy it, come back and spray it, never relaxing for a moment.

In 2006, still in the same plot of land, the 25 mu of tomatoes planted by Li Huaying reached a per-unit yield of 10.026 tons, and she again won the title of the whole Regiment's tomato planting champion.

In 2007, the 25 mu of iron-skin peppers she planted reached a per-unit yield of 570 kg/mu, and because she worked conscientiously, carefully and responsibly, and actively applied new technologies and new varieties, she obtained substantial benefits; in 2008 she planted 25 mu of tomatoes, with a per-unit yield of 12.31 tons and a total yield of 307.75 tons. She actively strengthened water and fertilizer management, adopted seedling transplanting on saline-alkali land and increased the application of organic fertilizer, supplemented the nutrient elements the plants needed, and also caught the best price for tomatoes in years, with net income of around 70,000.

In the face of a series of honors, Li Huaying did not become proud and complacent, but threw herself even harder into labor and production. In her work she strictly demanded of herself, fully leveraging her production experience and technical advantages, and by advancing funds and passing on high-yield techniques, she drove the company's poor workers to achieve high yields. She also actively participated in the trade union's "5000 Prosperity Project" and poverty alleviation and assistance activities , leading workers to develop self-operated economy and achieve common prosperity. She also many times participated in speech meetings and report meetings organized by the Regiment, passing on her high-yield experience in scientific farming to more workers and the masses.
