The grain-growing story of major grain farmer Li Dongsheng
It is currently the season when farmers sell their grain. On the morning of June 29, at the grain depot in Wugong Township, Wugang City, from far away, the reporter spotted a long dragon-like queue of grain-selling vehicles stretching out from the grain depot gate. At the gate of the grain depot, the reporter met Li Dongsheng, a major grain farmer interviewed not long ago. Li Dongsheng contracted more than 500 mu of land in Dali Village, Wugong Township, all planted with wheat. This time he brought over a dozen truckloads of wheat at once, more than 100 tons."
Speaking of this year's summer grain harvest, Li Dongsheng sighed with emotion: because of timely drought relief, my wheat suffered almost no loss, with an average yield of over 450 kg per mu, and over 500 kg per mu on good plots, an increase of 25 kg to 50 kg per mu compared with previous years. On my more than 500 mu of land, I harvested about 250,000 kg of grain, which can sell for around 500,000 yuan.
"So how much can you earn?" the reporter asked.
"I'll do the math for you and you'll see. The rent, fertilizer, seeds, plowing and sowing, weeding, and wheat harvesting costs for one mu of land come to about 500-plus yuan. Calculating gross income at 900 yuan per mu, you can earn 300-plus yuan, and more than 500 mu comes to around 150,000 yuan."
"How much more income can you get compared with last year?"
"Compared with last year, it's much better. Not to mention producing a hundred-plus jin more grain per mu, the national policy is good, and the grain price is also higher than last year. Last year it was seven mao five (per jin), this year it's nine mao (per jin), selling for one mao five more per jin. Adding the increased production, earning more than 100,000 yuan more than last year this year is no problem." Speaking of the abundant income, the somewhat tired Li Dongsheng's eyes suddenly lit up with spirit.
At the end of the interview, Li Dongsheng also told the reporter a piece of good news: as soon as this year's summer grain harvest was finished, he took out more than 80,000 yuan to buy a New Holland 900 large tractor. For the autumn grain land preparation and sowing, he used all his own machinery, and in just one season he saved more than 10,000 yuan on agricultural machinery costs alone.
