"Last year Hailai Ati contracted more than 800 mu of land in Luofa Village, hired local villagers to grow flue-cured tobacco, and at the year-end settlement, the flue-cured tobacco sold for more than 1.95 million yuan, with a net profit of more than 400,000 yuan. Hailai Ati not only replaced his television and bought a motorcycle, but also bought a 'second-hand apartment building' in the county town."

    In the bright spring of May, the reporter once again entered the home of this honest young Yi man.

"Do you dare to plant 800 mu again this year?" "Why wouldn't I dare? It's just that the villagers are no longer willing to contract their land to me. Last year they not only saw my bumper harvest, but also learned all my (flue-cured tobacco) techniques, and this year they want to plant it themselves. Seeing the villagers have work to do and be able to get rich through hard work makes me happy too." Facing the reporter's questions, Hailai Ati was still just as straightforward.

"Why did you dare to contract so much land at once to grow flue-cured tobacco at that time?" the reporter asked. He said, "In the past I often worked away from home, and during that time I was helping others grow flue-cured tobacco. Although it was very tiring, I could not earn much money. Later I gradually learned flue-cured tobacco techniques, so I tried growing it myself. Especially now, with such strong government support, such good policies, and such low risk, why wouldn't I dare to plant?"

This year, Hailai Ati planned to develop in a new tobacco-growing area. Because he was afraid that contracted land too far from home would increase the risk, Hailai Ati ultimately chose Wuhe Village, Mianshan Town, Xide County, more than ten kilometers from home. Through contact with town officials, coordination by village and group officials, and his own active participation, he signed land contract agreements with villagers in that village for more than 200 mu.

At present, in order to effectively increase the income of tobacco users and help tobacco farmers become prosperous, the Xide County Party Committee and County Government have listed this year's flue-cured tobacco work as one of the county's eight key tasks, and have invested a large amount of manpower, material resources, and financial resources in water, electricity, roads, and other aspects for flue-cured tobacco. At present, more than 20 million yuan has been invested, and a total of 12 tobacco-water supporting projects have been built, with 182.5 kilometers of water delivery pipelines installed, 367.4 kilometers of field pipe networks, and 75 water storage pools. A total of 45 groups and 728 dense-style connected curing barns have been newly built. 32 transformers have been installed, with a capacity of 2,755 kVA, and 24.9 kilometers of 10 kV lines and 13.23 kilometers of 0.4 kV lines have been newly built. 38 kilometers of field machine farming roads have been newly built, 18 kilometers have been maintained, and 3 hail suppression points and 3 tobacco leaf work stations have been newly built in Hongmo, Mianshan, and Luji. This year the whole county plans to plant 20,000 mu of flue-cured tobacco, with an estimated output of 50,000 dan.

"The rain came early this year, so growing flue-cured tobacco has more advantages." Hailai Ati hired more than 20 laborers and spent more than 300 work hours. After carefully cultivating tobacco seedlings and laboriously transplanting them in the field, he planted the flue-cured tobacco seedlings of prosperity in his heart. There are 54 large flue-cured tobacco growers like Hailai Ati in the whole of Xide County, and the largest one has a planting area of 880 mu.
