Beef cattle farmer Xu Keke shares her farming experience
When meeting Xu Keke for the first time, she left the reporter with the impression of being beautiful and elegant, displaying the grace of a contemporary university student in every gesture, so much so that the reporter wondered whether she was really the interview subject - a "cowherd" who deals with cattle all day long?
Xu Keke told the reporter that she was born in May 1982, graduated from Henan Institute of Science and Technology with a major in animal science, and is a graduate student. In February of the year before last, she was selected as one of the second batch of university graduate village officials in Anyang City, and currently serves as deputy secretary of the Party branch of Guolixi Village, Dongfeng Township, Long'an District.
Xu Keke told the reporter that Guolixi Village is a poor and backward agricultural village with a population of 2,230 and no collective enterprises. After learning about the situation, she actively leveraged her professional strengths. After investigating the market, she decided to set up a beef cattle farm in the village. With strong support from the local government, in October of the year before last, the village completed a joint-stock beef cattle farm covering 6,000 sq m with more than 100 head of improved beef cattle on hand. After more than half a year of operation, the farm's production, management, sales and other aspects of work have all been running well. So far, more than 100 adult cattle have been sent to market, generating a net profit of 180,000 yuan, and the participating villagers each received an average dividend of 3,000 yuan. Xu Keke said: "At present, we are planning to continue expanding the barns and enlarging the scale of the farm to help more people become prosperous."
