Technology improves the quality of agricultural products, brand marketing boosts sales
If you want to get rich, first build a road. Today the Kangzhuang highway in Chun'an County, Zhejiang, has long been open, so how should local farmers get rich? For people who lack knowledge and funds, this is a problem they must face directly.
In Mochuan Village, Fuwen Township, 44-year-old farmer Wang Rihong gave his answer: develop specialty planting and use technology and branding to open up a space of his own.
Mochuan Village is located at the geographical center of Fuwen Township, with flat terrain and fertile land. After extensive research and consulting experts, Wang Rihong found that it is very suitable for growing Cuiguan pears, Huanghua pears, Qingxiang pears and diaogua (Trichosanthes kirilowii). Obviously, the door to entrepreneurship was right here. A few years earlier, Wang Rihong, with a try-it-out attitude, took the lead in contracting 45 mu of land for trial planting (including 15 mu of diaogua), and interplanted tea in the pear orchard to achieve comprehensive use of the orchard.
When you do something, you must do your utmost, so that even if you do not succeed, you will not regret it in your heart. With this attitude, he focused on technology with one hand and branding with the other, using technology to improve the quality of the fruit and branding to enhance the intangible value of the fruit, and boldly set about building his business.
In terms of technology, Wang Rihong first took part in study and training through various channels, hired technical personnel for on-site guidance, and carried out every stage of pear orchard and diaogua growth strictly according to technical procedures. Second, he used organic fertilizer as much as possible to improve soil structure and greatly enhance fruit quality, and rationally thinned buds and retained shoots to lay a good foundation for stable and high yields. Finally, he carried out scientific pest and disease control and flower and fruit thinning, so that the pears reached excellent color, shape and taste. The pears he produced weighed more than 230 grams each and had the advantages of thin skin, tender flesh, abundant juice and sweet taste. In terms of branding, Wang Rihong registered the trademark "Shanwanwan" for his Cuiguan pears, and carried out unified packaging, unified standards and unified sales.
On this basis, Wang Rihong took his high-quality products and went everywhere to visit work units and markets. Through his efforts, the sales channels for diaogua seeds also gradually opened up. In 2007, a roasted snack factory in Huzhou signed a purchase contract with Wang Rihong for 100,000 jin of diaogua seeds, and established a long-term cooperative relationship.
In 2007, Wang Rihong contracted 45 mu of farmers' fields to grow fruit and diaogua. The annual output of diaogua seeds was more than 7,000 jin, with an output value of more than 90,000 yuan; pears were more than 60,000 jin, with an output value of more than 180,000 yuan. They were mainly sold to markets in Hangzhou, Changxing, Jiangsu and elsewhere.
Under Wang Rihong's demonstration and leadership, Mochuan and neighboring villages successively developed this planting model and achieved very good economic benefits. In 2007 alone, Fuwen Township developed 1,188 mu of fruit and more than 180 mu of diaogua, purchased more than 100,000 jin of diaogua seeds from farmers with sales of more than 1.3 million yuan, and pears of more than 200,000 jin with sales of more than 600,000 yuan. Annual sales were more than 2 million yuan, net income was 150,000 yuan, and per capita income was 50,000 yuan, winning praise from local fruit farmers.
