I love flowers the most; I love them more than reading, and even more than painting and calligraphy.

If you love flowers, you grow flowers. I have grown flowers from childhood to adulthood, and on into middle age, no fewer than several hundred kinds. Every autumn they are fine, but after a winter's dormancy, they never wake up again.

I am sure I am no killer, yet I often cut short the lives of my flowers, and there is nothing I can do. If I am ever in low spirits, saying nothing, it is certain that a flower has died.

I love fig trees; the one before my eyes is definitely not the first.

When spring comes and flowers bloom, I always want to do something, so I move the sprouting fig tree out into the yard early. By the time I realize something is wrong and carry it back inside, the fig's tender leaves have gradually wilted. Even the branches wither, from tip to root.

"Helplessly watching the flower (branch)

Fall bit by bit (wither)

And there is nothing to be done..."

These are lines from my "Burying the Flowers."

Flowers are very beautiful, very loyal. Your thoughts, she will not spread around. I often talk with flowers, sharing intimate words. I love flowers, yet I have written very few articles about them.

Fig

  • With tearful eyes I ask the flower
  • The flower does not answer
This is the line about flowers that moves me most; I flatter myself that only I could write it, because no one loves figs more than I do.

Because Grandpa had a pomegranate flower, I went and bought a pot too. Grandpa's pomegranate was an ornamental pomegranate, which only blooms and bears no fruit. Mine is a fruiting pomegranate, which both blooms and bears fruit. However, the flowers of the fruiting pomegranate are not as dazzling as those of the ornamental pomegranate, and the layers are not full enough either. It is not that ornamental pomegranates bear no fruit; Grandpa's ornamental pomegranate bore one.

Grandpa's pomegranate tree sits on the counter by the window of my shop, and it has not sprouted yet.

Was it God or Jesus who said that his grace to people has not yet exceeded his adornment of flowers. This should be the highest praise for flowers.
