Recently, many flower lovers keep asking me, "I love flowers but I don't know how to grow them." "I'm just not cut out for growing flowers; every one I plant dies." Anyone can grow flowers; it's just that some people have more experience, and some have very little or none at all. Growing flowers well isn't hard. As long as you learn more, observe more, and experiment more, anyone can grow flowers well. Below are a few of the most practical tips for growing flowers.

All kinds of problems often come up when growing flowers, and when they do, many people are at a loss for what to do. This is also the main reason most people fail at growing flowers. Every plant has its own growing environment. Growing plants is like raising animals: to grow them well, you first need to understand what they like and don't like, and treat the problem accordingly. The same goes for growing flowers. When a problem arises with your flowers, don't panic. Find the right cause, then treat it accordingly. Problems with flowers fall into only two parts: the above-ground part and the below-ground part. The above-ground part is the stems and leaves above the pot, and the below-ground part is the flower's root system. Problems with the above-ground part are mainly yellowing leaves, leaf drop, wilting, and disease; the below-ground part means root rot, pests and diseases. As long as you master these two parts and correct or prevent problems promptly when you spot them, your flowers won't die for no apparent reason.

There are many causes of problems in flowers, including: soil that is too clayey and not breathable, improper watering, unreasonable fertilizing, unsuitable temperature, too much light, poor air circulation, pests and diseases, and so on. Here are a few methods for you, so that once a problem occurs you can deal with it promptly. For the above-ground part, check the growth of the stems and leaves often. Once you spot a problem, first find out the cause: check whether the soil in the pot is too wet, whether you have fertilized recently, what the temperature is like, check the leaves for pests and diseases, and whether the spot where it sits gets good air circulation. When you've determined that a certain cause is responsible, if the symptoms are mild you can correct and change things in time, and these symptoms will gradually disappear. If the symptoms are very severe, then the only option is amputation surgery, meaning cutting off all the plant's branches; next year it will grow a brand-new plant again. This is the best measure for saving the above-ground stems and leaves, but if it's a problem with the root system, then it's very hard to save. When you've checked all these and there's no problem, then it's a problem with the below-ground part.

Below-ground problems are also easy to solve. First gently take the flower out of the pot and carefully examine how the roots are growing. If they are rotten, for mild cases you can cut off all the rotten roots, cutting as much as possible; after cutting, soak them in a potassium permanganate solution for 15 minutes, then take them out to dry, and repot with fresh soil, or you can sprinkle sulfur powder on the flower's roots before repotting. If the root rot is severe, it may be a near-death situation. To make it easy for everyone to identify symptoms, you can look for flower problems in the following aspects: too much watering causing waterlogging, no watering for a long time causing drought, too much fertilizer, a thin and small plant that hasn't been fertilized for a long time, a spot with poor air circulation, soil in the pot that is too clayey and not breathable, pests and diseases, whether medication has caused phytotoxicity, sunlight that is too strong, and whether the temperature is high or low. These are all problems commonly encountered in growing flowers. As long as you manage carefully and check thoroughly according to these methods, even a beginner can easily grow flowers well.
