(Agricultural Wealth Network) Based on the county's advantages in the soybean industry, Jiaxiang County, Shandong has closely seized the state's preferential support for "agriculture, rural areas and farmers," actively sought preferential policies from higher levels, and through its efforts obtained the soybean high-yield creation demonstration county project from the Ministry of Agriculture and the provincial Department of Agriculture in 2009. The whole county implemented a demonstration area of 10,000 mu, involving 2,726 farming households in more than 20 administrative villages in Liangbaosi Town.
In the soybean high-yield creation activity, Jiaxiang County took multiple measures in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Agriculture and the provincial Department of Agriculture and pushed forward solidly. To strengthen organizational leadership, a soybean high-yield creation leading group and a technical group were established; in terms of technology, scientific and technical training was widely carried out, more than 5,000 copies of the "Jiaxiang County Soybean High-Yield Creation Materials Compilation" were printed and distributed, and agricultural experts were organized to go deep into the creation sites many times, focusing on promoting new technologies in efficient soybean cultivation, unified prevention and control of pests and diseases, soil testing and formulated fertilization, and mechanized production, ensuring that technology entered villages, households and fields; in terms of improved variety promotion, efforts focused on seed selection and processing, increasing the seed coating rate and unified supply rate, and promoting high-quality soybean varieties with strong disease resistance and wide adaptability such as Zhonghuang 13 and Xudou 14; in terms of cultivation methods, the farming system was changed according to local conditions, and reasonable crop rotation was implemented.
This year, although affected by unfavorable natural climate factors, thanks to effective measures, after yield measurement and acceptance by provincial and municipal expert groups, the county's 10,000-mu soybean high-yield demonstration activity still achieved remarkable results. The average yield per unit area in the demonstration area was 209.4 kg, an increase of 21.2 kg over the county's average yield per unit area, with a total soybean increase of 231,000 kg and newly added economic benefits of 1.1411 million yuan, achieving good benefits.
