Zhushan County, Hubei advances high-quality and high-yield creation to build a core premium tea sector base
Zhushan County, Hubei highlights high-quality and high-yield creation to cultivate core premium tea sector connection bases
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Recently, Leigu Town in Zhushan County, in conjunction with autumn sowing production, grandly held a town-wide autumn and winter tea garden management on-site meeting in Zaoyuan Village of the town. Wang Xin and Wang Xingmin, tea technical service experts from the Zhushan County Agriculture Bureau, carried out technical guidance and on-site demonstration operations, thus kicking off Leigu Town's creation of high-quality and high-efficiency tea gardens and the construction of premium tea sector connection bases.
Leigu Town is a gateway town bordering Zhuxi County and also the central area connecting the "Two-Zhu Premium Tea Sector" planned by the Provincial Department of Agriculture. According to the county party committee and county government's "three separations and one unification" development strategy for characteristic industries, Leigu Town has been listed as a key development town in the county's "Two Mountains and One Ridge" tea economic corridor. The town seized the opportunity and forged ahead against difficulties. By the end of 2008, it had built more than 800 mu of new tea bases, and this winter, around Provincial Highway 305, it expanded the base by 2500 mu, bringing the town's total premium tea base scale to more than 7000 mu. Following the work approach of emphasizing both construction and management and creating a "three-high" characteristic industry, the town's two committees accelerated tea industry development in a breakthrough manner. First, manage the seedlings well and cultivate strong seedlings. For young tea gardens, thin and space seedlings throughout the garden, keeping 2-3 strong seedlings per hole, laying the first step of the foundation for cultivating high-yield gardens; second, strengthen investment. The town agricultural technology service center is responsible for soil sample surveys and, according to soil testing and formulated fertilization technology, implements formulated fertilization in tea gardens; third, standardize interplanting. Interplanting is prohibited in tea gardens already in production. Young tea gardens are uniformly interplanted with the same varieties; fourth, scientific pruning. Relying on the agricultural technology center, vigorously promote mechanical pruning, bringing the coverage rate of mechanical pruning in tea gardens to 90%; fifth, build gardens to high standards. For newly built autumn and winter bases, implement mechanized operations, and after high-standard soil preparation, carry out ridging and sowing.
To build a new tea town in the west, on the one hand, Leigu Town in Zhushan County established an autumn and winter tea industry development work leading group headed by the party committee secretary, to grasp matters concretely and ensure implementation. Relevant town party committee leaders and relevant town-direct departments formed an autumn and winter tea industry development and construction command headquarters, going deep and meticulously to do the masses' ideological work and fighting shoulder to shoulder with the masses. On the other hand, the Zhushan County Agriculture Bureau (Tea Office) selected key technical personnel to go deep into the construction bases and provide full-process technical services. Through careful organization and overall promotion, the goals of creating high efficiency in already-built bases and creating high quality in bases under construction were achieved, realizing the tea sector construction goal of "build one block, succeed with one block, make one block high-efficiency."
