Guangyuan, Sichuan: Donating Chicks to Accelerate Poverty Alleviation and Delivering Technology to Advance Moderate Prosperity
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Recently, the Wangcang County Animal Husbandry and Food Bureau distributed more than one thousand chicks to the first batch of chicken-raising demonstration households in Shuifeng Village, Maying Township, and provided training on chicken-raising techniques, so that they could better master advanced and scientific breeding techniques, promote the development of this chicken-raising industry, and achieve higher incomes and prosperity for farmers.
It is understood that Maying Township is located in the mountainous area of northern Wangcang County, where economic conditions are poor and it is difficult for farmers to increase their incomes. In light of local conditions, the county Animal Husbandry and Food Bureau made broiler chicken breeding its main assistance project, with funding subsidies, breeding technology training and technical services as the main assistance measures, and provided targeted assistance to 10 animal husbandry demonstration households in Shuifeng Village. This enabled farmers to truly master scientific breeding techniques, guided villagers to develop the chicken-raising industry, and strengthened farmers' self-reliant "blood-generating" capacity to escape poverty and move toward moderate prosperity.
Up to now, the county Animal Husbandry and Food Bureau has invested more than 40,000 yuan, supported the construction of equipment for 10 brooding rooms, provided 1 ton of chick feed and epidemic prevention medicines free of charge, and carried out brooding for the more than 1,000 donated chicks.
