Nagqu agriculture and animal husbandry projects in Tibet, China progress smoothly with initial results
(Agricultural Wealth Network) In recent years, with strong support from the autonomous region government and relevant departments, infrastructure construction in the Nagqu region has been solidly advanced, agriculture and animal husbandry capital construction projects and characteristic industry projects have been successively launched and basically completed, project fund management has been improved, and investment benefits have initially emerged. This is the conclusion reached by the cross-inspection team for agriculture and animal husbandry projects of the autonomous region after inspecting agriculture and animal husbandry projects in the Nagqu region.
It is reported that in recent years, in terms of agriculture and animal husbandry capital construction, the Nagqu region has focused on implementing construction projects such as the natural grassland grazing withdrawal and grassland restoration project, township veterinary prevention station construction, rural biogas construction, and nomadic herder settlement. At present, all projects have been basically completed.
In terms of characteristic industry project construction, from 2004 to 2008 the Nagqu region arranged a total investment of more than 130 million yuan, successively implementing characteristic industry projects such as short-term yak fattening, cashmere goat production base construction, sheep fattening base construction, dairy product processing construction, and fine livestock breed bases. At present, all projects are progressing smoothly.
The Nagqu region has combined project construction with the cultivation of specialized cooperative economic organizations for farmers and herders. At present, 43 specialized cooperative organizations for farmers and herders have been established for agriculture and animal husbandry characteristic industry projects, achieving rolling development of characteristic industries and ensuring sustained and stable income growth for the people. The dairy product processing projects implemented in 7 counties (districts) of Nagqu have now all been completed, and herder cooperative organizations have been set up, beginning to bring benefits to the people. The Amdo County project was delivered for use on July 1 this year. As of the end of September, it had completed sales revenue of nearly 47,000 yuan and made a profit of more than 20,000 yuan; the dairy product processing projects in Shenzha County and Nyima County have been in operation since August and within just 3 months achieved net profits of 11,000 yuan and 15,000 yuan respectively, driving income growth for 52 households with 228 people and 51 households with 297 people in the project villages respectively. It is expected that by the end of this year they will achieve net profits of 30,000 yuan and 35,000 yuan respectively.
