Ecological agriculture helps Dinghu, Zhaoqing achieve a "green rise"

Around the strategy of a "green rise," Dinghu District takes the development of ecological, green and leisure-sightseeing agriculture as its focus, works on the character "green," makes efforts to improve agricultural competitiveness, and focuses on leading agricultural and rural economic development in six major aspects.
First, developing ecological agriculture bases to lead agricultural and rural economic development. It has successively established a number of ecological demonstration agriculture bases and ecological sightseeing agriculture bases, including the Shapu Wenjing carp base, the Fenghuang Satsuma mandarin base, the Fenghuang crystal pear base, and Yanzhou Island sightseeing agriculture, using the intensive development of the bases to drive the industrialization of agricultural economic development.
Second, cultivating and developing green and pollution-free agricultural products to lead agricultural and rural economic development. In recent years, Lingyang Gorge brand Zhaoqing gorgon nut, Lingyang Gorge bananas, Wenjing carp, Wenjing grass carp, and meat pigs from the Zhaoqing Municipal Improved Seed Farm have obtained pollution-free agricultural product certification, while Huangzhonghuang brand black pearl zongzi and Lingyang Gorge brand Zhaoqing gorgon nut have obtained Guangdong Provincial agricultural famous-brand product status, greatly improving the "green" competitiveness of the district's agricultural products.
Third, introducing, cultivating and developing leading agricultural enterprises to lead agricultural and rural economic development. In building the "ecological card," "green card" and "specialty card," it has successively introduced a number of powerful leading agricultural enterprises, such as Wens Dairy Co., Ltd., Jiarun Food Co., Ltd. and Nanfang Poultry Co., Ltd., to settle in Dinghu for investment and development, forming a modern agricultural production and operation model of "company + base + standards + farmers" and an integrated production, supply and marketing chain, making the district's agricultural products rise rapidly in market reputation in recent years.
Fourth, cultivating and developing industry associations and specialized production cooperatives to lead agricultural and rural economic development. It vigorously encourages and supports intermediary organizations and specialized circulation households to actively participate in the circulation of agricultural products, and establishes a multi-level, multi-channel agricultural product circulation system. At present, the whole district has more than 250 circulation teams, 4 industry associations and 11 specialized production cooperatives. Among them, the banana standardized demonstration base in Huangbusha Village, Shapu Town was awarded the title of "National Advanced Unit for Rural Science Popularization Demonstration Bases" in 2008, and in October this year, the Dinghu District Zhaoqing Gorgon Nut Association was rated as a national advanced unit of rural professional technology associations.

The coverage rate of improved varieties of major crops in the whole district rose from 55% before the district was established to more than 98% at present; the coverage rate of improved varieties in the breeding industry rose from 48% before the district was established to more than 85% at present, and the penetration rate of various advanced and applicable planting and breeding technologies rose from 45% before the district was established to more than 95% at present. According to statistics, in the 21 years since the district was established, it has introduced and promoted more than 250 fine new crop varieties, more than 30 new poultry and livestock varieties, and more than 20 new aquatic product varieties, introduced and promoted more than 50 advanced and practical planting and breeding technologies, and the promotion and application of new varieties and new technologies increased agricultural product output by more than 300,000 tons and increased income by 450 million yuan.
