Emerald plans to capture 7% of the wheat export share this year
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Australia's Emerald Group recently stated that Emerald Group plans to capture 7% of the national winter grain export market share this year.

Emerald Group plans to export 2.5 million tonnes of Australian winter grain, which accounts for about 7% of the total winter grain production of 36 million tonnes. Nearly two-thirds of the grain will be wheat.

So far, Australian farmers have committed to delivering 1.5 million tonnes of wheat, barley and canola to Emerald Group's pooling pool.

Emerald Group has also currently raised as much as AUD 350 million in funds from financial partners, including the ANZ Banking Group.

In 2008, Emerald Group sold 1.5 million tonnes of grain, accounting for 4.5% of total production. He said that by 2014, the group's market share is expected to reach 15%. By contrast, AWB captured 25% of the national wheat export market last year.
