Argentine exchange: corn planting progress still lags behind
(Agricultural Wealth Network)    According to the weekly report released by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange of Argentina on November 11, as of November 11, corn planting was 69% complete out of the planned area of 1.875 million hectares, 5.3% behind the same period last year.

Over the past week, corn planting progress in Argentina remained slow.

Because rain had still not appeared, farmers planted more late-maturing corn. In some areas where spring rain had not yet appeared, farmers postponed planting work.

The Rosario Grain Exchange of Argentina forecasts corn production at 16 million tons.

The government forecasts domestic corn consumption for 2009/10 at 8 million tons, which means corn export supply is only 8 million tons.
