Inner Mongolia's Urad Rear Banner: Facility Agriculture Lets Farmers Open the Door to Prosperity
(Agricultural Prosperity Network) In October the fields and farmland already look empty, yet in Dongsheng Village of Bayanbulag Town and Guanglin Village of Hohhot Town in Urad Rear Banner, a group of simple, honest farmers who have prospered through modern facility agriculture are busy at work.
Following the neat country roads, we arrived at the vegetable greenhouses of Dongsheng Team 5, where cucumbers hung fresh and tender all over the trellises. Inside the greenhouse, Zhang Siyue was busy watering 1 mu of cucumbers. According to her, planting beans in spring already brought in more than 3,000 yuan; the cucumbers were planted on August 6, and the first batch sold for 600 yuan at 0.6 yuan/jin. She expects another 250 jin of cucumbers, which at the current price of 0.7 yuan/jin will bring in another 175 yuan. Even more noteworthy is Zhang Jinchang, a skilled farmer who, through years of farming experience, has gradually worked out a theory of his own. While others earn more than 10,000 yuan a year from greenhouses, he earns 20,000 yuan. His cucumbers have all reached the market, and now his celery is about to be harvested too; he can harvest 3 crops a year. For the third crop, he plans to plant some spinach and rapeseed.
In Urad Rear Banner there are really quite a few people like them who have prospered through facility agriculture. Dongsheng Team 5 in Bayan Town now has 34 greenhouses in total: 12 arched sheds and 22 greenhouse sheds. A set of one greenhouse and one arched shed costs 110,000 yuan in total investment; farmers pay 25,000 yuan, while the banner and town subsidize 85,000 yuan. The seasonal vegetables produced are supplied on a fixed basis to the banner's large supermarkets, and they are often in short supply. At the same time, many dehydrated vegetable plants actively come to sign seedling orders with them. Many farmers in the village also plan to grow greenhouse vegetables. Next year their village also plans to further expand the greenhouse planting area.
At the same time, Guanglin Village in Hohhot Town has also achieved great results in developing facility agriculture.
This year, Guanglin Village built a total of 44 vegetable greenhouses, each costing 88,000 yuan and covering 1.6 mu, of which the warm shed covers 0.7 mu. Of all the investment, the banner government subsidizes 30,000 yuan per greenhouse, some project units subsidize 10,000 yuan, and the rest is raised by the village collective and farmers themselves. Once completed, the vegetable greenhouses can achieve a net income of more than 1.4 million yuan a year. At present, 22 have been planted with fresh seasonal green vegetables, and the others are undergoing seedling cultivation. When talking about this project with us, Town Mayor Su Yonghe said: "We want to set up a demonstration first, so that farmers can watch and learn. Once they have mastered the techniques and feel confident, we will let them operate independently. In the future, we also plan to gradually set up a Party member vegetable transport service team in the village to deliver vegetables right to people's doors."
Urad Rear Banner is gradually moving from ordinary agriculture to facility agriculture, developing modern suburban agriculture to meet the local vegetable supply. It can be said that through gradual transformation, Urad Rear Banner is changing and developing step by step.
