Jiangsu Shuyang's "Aerial Classroom" Helps Farmers Get Rich
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Since the beginning of this year, Shuyang County, relying on the county's 510 distance education sites, has given full play to the advantages of distance education, including clear signals, rich content, practical programs, and combining education with entertainment, turning distance education into an "aerial classroom" for farmers' production, daily life, and scientific and technological path to prosperity.
The county has organized more than 10 special training sessions to strengthen technical capacity training for distance education operators. Through the training, operators have achieved standardized operation, safe maintenance, and skillful use of distance education equipment. Distance education is carried out in combination with actual rural conditions, making more use of slack farming seasons, rainy days, holidays, and other times to organize villagers for centralized study and viewing. To meet the needs of the masses, a courseware-on-demand system is implemented for distance education content, with timely program forecasts and on-demand announcements. Each village (community) is required to select and broadcast practical technologies and special topics that fit the actual needs of the masses according to its own industrial characteristics, so as to improve the actual effectiveness of distance education. A long-term learning mechanism has been established, stipulating that each township and village (community) organize the masses to study no fewer than 3 times per month, with each study session lasting no less than 1 hour and a participation rate of no less than 80%. At the same time, regular and irregular spot checks are conducted, and assessment results are reported in a timely manner.
