(Agricultural Wealth Network) Recently, it was learned from the Jingning County Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau that the county's new round of breeding sow insurance work for 2009 was fully completed by the end of October. All 1,847 breeding sows in the county benefited from the insurance policy, with total underwriting premiums of 110,820 yuan.
Jingning County first launched the policy-based breeding sow insurance work in September 2007. The premium is 60 yuan, of which the government bears 80%, or 48 yuan, and farms and households only need to bear 20%, or 12 yuan. The claim amount reaches 1,000 yuan per head. The insurance coverage includes 10 major diseases such as septicemia, swine fever, and swine erysipelas, as well as natural disasters and accidents, relieving farms and households of worries about raising pigs. Since the launch of the insurance, Jingning County has conscientiously implemented relevant national agricultural insurance policies and document requirements, strengthened publicity, increased fiscal support for agriculture, and continuously improved underwriting and claims service capabilities, winning welcome and praise from local people.
This year, in order to ensure that this beneficial policy is fully implemented, the Jingning County Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau completed the investigation and verification of breeding sows in stock throughout the county early on, and actively cooperated with PICC Property Jingning Sub-branch and relevant functional departments of each township to comprehensively carry out door-to-door insurance enrollment. Thanks to policy publicity and service in place, the coverage rate and participation rate of breeding sow insurance in the county both reached 100%.
