Farmer from Jiangxia, Hubei Contracts Farmland in Daye to Grow Grain, Profits 100,000 yuan in One Year
(Agricultural Wealth Network) Farmer Hu Shiyao from Jiangxia contracted 450 mu of land in rural Daye to grow grain, making an annual profit of more than 100,000 yuan. Recently, when talking about getting rich by farming in Daye, Hu Shiyao's face was full of smiles.
Hu Shiyao, now 63 years old, is from Xiaoli Village, Canglong Island, Jiangxia, and was already a well-known large-scale grain grower in his own village. Because the village is close to the urban area, arable land is becoming scarcer and scarcer, and farming just over 20 mu always felt "not satisfying enough" to him; he dreamed that one day he could farm hundreds of mu of land and thereby give full play to his strengths.
In March this year, through an introduction by relatives, Hu Shiyao came to Fanshangdan Village, Jinniu Town, Daye City, and learned that most local villagers had gone out to work, the fields were almost abandoned, and the villagers were willing to rent out the land. In May this year, through the local village committee, he rented 450 mu of land from farmers at a rent of 150 yuan per mu, with the contract term set at 3 years. Hu Shiyao's actions also received active support from his hometown Xiaoli Village, where the village committee helped him apply for agricultural machinery subsidies; he spent nearly 100,000 yuan to buy two large plough boats, two tillers and one walking tractor to grow grain in Daye.
In Fanshangdan Village, Daye, he and his wife lived only in a simple warehouse, pumping water for irrigation, checking the water, spraying pesticides and applying chemical fertilizer, attending to everything personally, while also hiring some local farmers as helpers.
He said that his contracted land in Daye could produce 380,000 jin of grain this year, with sales revenue reaching more than 300,000 yuan, and after deducting costs, a net profit of more than 100,000 yuan.
