Hubei: Distinctive Features Mean Higher Prices
(Agricultural Wealth Network)    Export Vegetables Come to Promote

At the agricultural expo, exhibitors were like the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, each showing their own talents, highlighting their distinctive features and spreading their good names. Anything with obvious distinctive features was not cheap, and more people came to look and buy.

Guangdi Group brought its American pea shoots, Guangdong choy sum, Chinese kale (gai lan) and other specialty vegetables from its own vegetable plots into the agricultural expo. Because of the high price, these vegetables are all sold to coastal areas and abroad, and were not sold on the Wuhan market. Participating in this agricultural expo was intended to let citizens know and accept their products, and to prepare for entering the high- and mid-range consumer market.

For this reason, at the expo they lowered the original price of American pea shoots from 30 yuan per jin to 20 yuan per jin, and Guangdong choy sum and Chinese kale (gai lan) were sold at 3.5 yuan per jin, also more than 1 yuan cheaper than the market price. "Too expensive, too expensive," called out Granny Ye, who lives on Zhongbai Road in Wuchang, yet she could not resist going to buy.

Quality and Nutrition Go Head to Head

At the agricultural expo, crabs from well-known production areas became the main attraction among aquatic products. With the cold snap arriving, crabs are becoming harder and harder to catch. When something is rare, it is precious, and today's crab prices, like this weather, make people shiver.

Wuhu crabs are sold at 300 yuan per bag of 10, 6 female and 4 male, less than 3 jin. A female crab from Liangzi Lake with a size of 175 grams (3.5 liang) sells for 55 yuan. And the crabs from Hannan Xique Lake are even more impressive: a female crab of more than 3 liang sells for 80 yuan each.

Here crabs sell for high prices, while over there eggs are small but full of essence. The eggs displayed at the Huanggang booth are not much bigger than table tennis balls, but because they are laid by free-range hens that eat only insects and grass, they are fragrant and highly nutritious, selling for more than 1.5 yuan each.

At another egg sales stand, the sign "Antibiotic-Free Eggs" was very eye-catching, with a price of 1 yuan each. The manufacturer introduced that they feed laying hens with antibiotic-free fermented feed, and the eggs contain no drug or hormone residues and are rich in amino acids.
