A few days ago, the Sichuan Provincial Government reviewed and in principle approved the "Sichuan Province New Rural Market System Development Plan (2009-2012)." On the 11th, Liu Xiangchao, director of the Market System Construction Division of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce, said that Sichuan Province will focus on improving the informatization level of the new rural market system, and gradually build an information service platform for matching agricultural production and sales, an information management platform for the "Ten Thousand Villages and Thousand Towns Market Project," and a rural market operation monitoring system. By then, online trading of agricultural products will become an important way of circulating agricultural products, and the rural market forecasting and early warning function will effectively play its role.
According to the plan, Sichuan will rely on rural information and communication network resources to build an information service platform for matching agricultural production and sales; with farmers' specialized cooperative organizations as the main target, it will carry out services such as county-level early warning of difficulties in selling agricultural products, farmer-supermarket matching, and online sales; it will build an information management platform for the "Ten Thousand Villages and Thousand Towns Market Project," with chain farm stores and comprehensive commercial service centers as the main windows, to carry out services such as market supply and demand information, guidance on agricultural product production and deep processing technology, and assistance for farmers in employment and entrepreneurship.
Sichuan will also build a rural market operation monitoring system composed of a provincial-level testing platform, city and county working platforms, monitored sample markets and enterprises, to improve the rural market forecasting and early warning capacity; establish an information release system, and strengthen analysis and forecasting of rural market supply and demand trends.
