Indian government closely monitoring global sugar price trends

    Dow Jones news A senior Indian government official said on Monday that the government has been closely monitoring sugar prices. 

    According to India's federal cabinet minister: "Global sugar prices are at a very high level." 

    When asked whether the government would take further measures to push down sugar prices, he said: "Measures will be taken if necessary. The government is currently watching price movements."
