EU 2009/10 wheat production data cut by 1.1 million tons
According to the latest report released by the US Department of Agriculture, the 2009/10 wheat production figure for the 27 EU countries was lowered by 1.1 million tons to 138 million tons.
The US Department of Agriculture said the 2009/10 wheat production figure for France was lowered by 950,000 tons because of a reduction in planted area. The UK wheat production figure was lowered by 400,000 tons, Italy and Spain were each lowered by 200,000 tons, and Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia saw smaller reductions.
However, these reductions were larger than the increases in other countries, among which Lithuania was raised by 170,000 tons, Latvia by 120,000 tons, and Germany, Hungary, Poland and Finland were each raised by 100,000 tons.
