Argentina soybean crop conditions ideal, ministry says most regions performing well
Argentina Ministry of Agriculture: soybean crops in most parts of Argentina are in ideal condition
According to a weekly report released by Argentina's Ministry of Agriculture over the weekend, soybean crops in most of Argentina's agricultural regions are currently in ideal condition, though dry weather in the southwestern region continues to affect local soybean growth.
According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange in Argentina, as of Wednesday, soybean planting was 33.8% complete out of the planned area of 19 million hectares.
This year's soybean planting area is expected to be 7% higher than the previous historical record, mainly due to declines in corn, sunflower and wheat planting areas.
This year Argentina's wheat production will also be boosted by mild El Nino weather.
Agricultural analysts estimate Argentina's 2009/10 soybean production at 48 million to 55 million tons, higher than the previous historical record of 47.5 million tons set in 2006/07.
